Generally speaking, they are most "in-tune" with SWF.com forum members' experiences. I purchased the LM blenny (eats like a champ!) from them and some CUC. Do you think 3 hour is best, as this is what I did. I generally prefer this site's recommendations especially considering the gap in SG between their tank and my own. They sited that too long of an acclimation period would deplete oxygen levels and cause a large pH drop. This site advocates a 3+ hour acclimation period for yellow tangs, and my LFS suggested only 30 minutes. The damsels seems way into themselves to care about any other fish. The damsels didn't appear to bother the yellow tang. Have you gotten fish that have survived from this store previously? If so I would try another on the LFS's dime if it were me. Would also not rule out aggression - stress from the Damsels. Still could be an acclimation problem going form the lower Sg - coppered water to you your tank. The body shapes of your tangs being the same, I would be suspect that the original inhabitant may still have caused some stress and maybe the death. The fish could have had compromised health when you got it. Its just weird to me that everything "seemed" so good and then to have it die so quicky without warning. Because my tank is 1.023, maybe osmotic shock? I'm a little skeptical on this because of the drip acclimation process.Īny thoughts? I'm working with my LFS, they are happy to credit my with a new yellow tang, but I want to eradicate the problem before trying to add again.
